Iceland Music is responsible for the implementation and follow-up of several actions in the government’s Music Policy Action Plan. The centre has already carried out measures relating to education, guidance and support for musicians, raising awareness of Icelandic music, strengthening cooperation with Iceland’s embassies abroad, and promoting the country, its music, and its festivals.
These actions are ongoing and include an education programme, advisory services, collaboration with the foreign service, and policy development work.
One action, aimed at mapping publicly owned buildings that could be used for music creation, recording, or performance, has been delayed due to parallel projects undertaken by other stakeholders. Iceland Music is awaiting the results of that work in order to ensure a coordinated and targeted continuation.
