Útrás: Get "Export ready"

Iceland Music invites all interested parties to a course on how to make your project "export ready". The first event is part of Bransaveislan and starts on Tuesday, November 5, at 17:30 and will be held at Iceland Music's, Austurstræti 5, 101 Reykjavík. The course suits all genres of music, is open to everyone, and furthermore free of charge.

The course will include both lectures and practical projects where experienced experts in marketing and music export share their knowledge. Participants will receive assistance with:

  • Setting clear goals for promotional activities.
  • Analysing market opportunities in foreign markets.
  • Creating press kits.
  • Preparing releases or organising social media campaigns.

Additionally, available support for export projects in Iceland will be presented, along with ways to utilise international events at home to strengthen networking. The course will conclude with participants presenting their final products.

The course aims to empower independent musicians, providing them with tools and resources to promote their art and become "export ready."

Schedule:

Tuesday, November 5, 17:30-19:00

Panel discussion on public relations, marketing, and bio writing.

  • Speakers: Paul Bridgewater (editor of The Line of Best Fit), Rebecca Mason (publicist at Inside Out), and Sophie Walker (journalist and publicist at Toast Press).
  • Leifur Björnsson, an expert at the Music Center, will lead the discussions.
  • Goal: To give participants a comprehensive view of the content and tools needed to promote music projects and sharpen their objectives in promotional work.

Tuesday, November 19, 17:00-19:00

Operations of the Music Center and support systems for export projects.

  • Presentation on the operations of the Music Center, Music Fund, and Promote Iceland, and how these entities support music and other creative industries' exports.
  • Project work: Goal setting, timelines, release and marketing plans, and how grants align with them.

Tuesday, December 3, 17:00-19:00

Presentations from music marketing experts.

  • In-depth discussion on music marketing, brand management, and target group analysis. Also, different market areas will be addressed and what to consider when exporting music.
  • Project work and goal setting.

Thursday, December 10, 17:00-19:00

Final project presentations and Happy Hour.

Registration takes place here but we ask those that those who sign up participate in the entire program.
