The beloved singer-songwriter Elín Hall is at the helm of our Love Letter playlist this week. Elín was also the guest on the latest episode of Northern Rising, the podcast series produced by Iceland Music in collaboration with The Reykjavík Grapevine and American media maverick Tim Pogo.

Elín is currently in London, where she’s following up on her latest release Heaven to a Heathen—a track that was also recorded in the city. Right now, she’s on her way to Milton Keynes to perform at the music festival Bludfest, but she still mede the time to send us this greeting, steeped in bittersweet longing and gentle homesickness.

Her selections are full of love and yearning, making this the perfect soundtrack for the solstice weekend ahead. There’s still spring in the air, and we’re all looking forward to summer adventures—but the truth is, the days will soon begin to shorten again, and we never quite manage to shake off the grip of winter darkness.
