Tónlistarsjóður awards travel grants to 12 projects in June - next deadline is 31 July

Travel grants are awarded to musicians and professionals seeking opportunities in larger markets, such as through touring, participating in delegations, trade shows, or showcase festivals. Grants are also available to composers for premieres of their work, and to professionals undertaking work-related domestic travel, for example to attend conferences or networking events.

Applications are accepted every two months, with the most recent deadline having passed on 1 June. A total of 30 applications were received, requesting a combined ISK 8,425,000. The allocation committee awarded ISK 2,950,000 to 12 projects.

The next deadline for travel grants is 31 July.

  • Jófríður Ákadóttir – 200,000 ISK – US tour
  • Svanur Vilbergsson – 75,000 ISK – Guitar festival in Denmark
  • Miller-Porfiris Duo – 200,000 ISK – Participation in Grand Teton Music Festival (USA) and premiere of new work
  • Ultraflex – 225,000 ISK – Pop-Kultur festival in Berlin
  • Power Paladin – 450,000 ISK – Tour in Germany
  • Inspector Spacetime – 375,000 ISK – SXSW London
  • Herdís Ágústa Linnet – 75,000 ISK – Participation in Norpas Festival in Finland
  • Gaddavír – 375,000 ISK – Wacken Metal Battle in Germany
  • Supersport! – 375,000 ISK – Fusion Festival in Germany
  • Tinna Þorsteinsdóttir – 100,000 ISK – Performance of a sound work in Japan
