From 11–14 September, the music festival SHIP took place in the coastal city of Šibenik, Croatia. This was the third year that the festival transformed the historic medieval fortress town into a full-scale music celebration. Despite its young age, SHIP is growing rapidly and has already become an important professional and showcase festival for the European music industry.
Leifur Björnsson, specialist at Iceland Music, took part in the festival and joined a panel under the heading More Than Miles: Measuring What Matters in Music Export. The discussion focused on how best to evaluate the success of export offices, with representatives from Iceland, Ireland, Croatia and Ukraine comparing notes.
Also along for the trip were the party-starters in Inspector Spacetime, who performed on 12 September. The band has been riding an incredible wave in recent months and seems to make a splash wherever they come ashore – an irresistible group by any measure.
