The music festival Mercat de Música Viva de Vic (MMVV) took place last weekend in the town of Vic in Catalonia. Now in its 37th edition, the festival has established itself as one of the leading events in the regional music sector. It brings together professionals, festivals, and artists from across the world to connect and present new projects.

Sigtryggur Baldursson attended on behalf of Iceland Music, introducing the recording reimbursement scheme (Record in Iceland) to industry professionals. Musicians Magnús Jóhann and Óskar Guðjónsson also took part, presenting their project Fermented Friendship. In addition, Iceland Airwaves and the Reykjavík Jazz Festival were represented in the programme.

The highlight of the Icelandic delegation’s trip was the concert by Óskar and Magnús in the magnificent Església Dels Dolors church on Friday, 19 September. The Catholic weight of the awe-inspiring church amplified the duo’s tender, bittersweet performance and lent it a new dimension - captured beautifully in the photographs.
