Icelandic Film Music in the Spotlight at Nordic Film Music Days
Icelandic film music will take center stage at Nordic Film Music Days 2025, where outstanding composers and musicians from Iceland will participate in this prestigious festival. The event takes place in Berlin in connection with the Berlinale film festival and serves as an important platform for composers working in film music across the Nordic countries.

Among the Icelandic representatives at this year's festival are Högni Egilsson, Eðvarð Egilsson, Margrét Rán, JFDR (Jófríður Ákadóttir), and Hallur Ingólfsson. Högni has been nominated for the Nordic Film Music Prize, HARPA, this year, while Eðvarð won the award last year.
Icelandic composers at Nordic Film Music Days 2025
Hallur Ingólfsson is an Icelandic composer. Hallur has written music for over 30 films and TV series and over 60 productions for stage, musicals, theatre and contemporary dance. Hallur has been nominated multiple times for his music to both the Icelandic film awards - EDDA awards - and theatre awards - GRIMA awards. In 2020 Hallur scored both Icelandic blockbusters of the year, the comedies “Síðasta Veiðiferðin” (The Last Fishing Trip) and “Amma Hófí” (Grandma Hófí).
Margrét Rán is an Icelandic singer, producer, and emerging film composer celebrated for her versatile artistry. She is the lead vocalist and a founding member of the dream-pop band Vök, as well as a member of the iconic electronic band GusGus. Her work includes award-winning documentaries such as A Song Called Hate (2020), Belonging (2023), and The Day Iceland Stood Still (2024).
JFDR (Jófríður Ákadóttir). Over the past 12 years Ákadóttir has released 12 records including as a member of Pascal Pinon & Samaris collaborated with renowned artists Ólafur Arnalds and Damien Rice, scored the award-winning Icelandic film Backyard Village and garnered fans across the world – including Björk who cites Ákadóttir as an inspiration.
Eðvarð Egilsson og Högni Egilsson Eðvarð Egilsson was the winner of the Nordic Film Music Prize, HARPA, in 2024, while Högni Egilsson has been nominated for the award this year for his music in the film Vanskabte Land (

Nordic Film Music Days provides a unique platform for Icelandic musicians to introduce themselves and connect with international filmmakers. The Iceland Music Information Centre has supported Icelandic participation at the festival, offering composers and musicians an opportunity to showcase their work to the global industry.
