Catch Kira Kira, Mikael Lind, Stereo Hypnosis, and More at Extreme Chill Festival 2024
This September, the Icelandic experimental music festival, Extreme Chill, celebrates its 15th anniversary with a week-long celebration of sonic innovation and artistic collaboration.
Taking place from September 2nd to 8th, this edition of the festival will transform various venues across downtown Reykjavík into hubs of creative exploration, where music enthusiasts can immerse themselves in a unique blend of experimental, electronica, and classical sounds.
Extreme Chill Festival is a music festival where local and foreign musicians of all ages and diverse backgrounds come together to create music under the inspiration of Icelandic nature. Extreme Chill will be a mystifying journey around electric Reykjavík.
This year's festival will feature a diverse lineup of artists, spanning from experimental to classical musicians. Notable performers include Alessandro Cortini, renowned as the bassist for Nine Inch Nails, and harpist Mary Lattimore. The festival will also showcase an array of Icelandic talent, such as Kira Kira, Mikael Lind, Stereo Hypnosis, Paddan, Ægir, Borgar Magnason, Jóhann Eiríksson, Plasmabell, Orange Volante, Álfbeat, and Jamesendir.
The fundamental aim of the festival is to create connections between Icelandic and foreign musicians, conjoining different art forms-from electronic music to visual arts- and to draw attention to electronic Reykjavik, the Electronic Music Capital of Iceland.
