Icelandic Pianist Víkingur Ólafsson Receives Grammy Nomination
Icelandic pianist Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson has received his first Grammy nomination in recognition of his exceptional performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson was nominated in the category of Best Soloist in Classical Music.
Víkingur has built an impressive career, performing with leading orchestras across Europe and the United States, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic, among others. He has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Thomas Adès, Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
Throughout his career, Ólafsson has garnered numerous accolades, including the 2019 Album of the Year at the BBC Music Magazine Awards for his interpretation of Bach, and the prestigious Opus Klassik Award for Solo Instrumental in both 2019 and 2020. In 2022, he was honored with the Rolf Schock Prize in Music.
