Högni Egilsson Nominated for HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award

Icelandic composer Högni Egilsson has been nominated for the prestigious HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award 2025 for his score to Baltasar Kormákur’s Touch. This nomination adds to Iceland’s strong presence in the Nordic film music scene, continuing a tradition of excellence at the HARPA Awards.

Icelandic composers have consistently been recognised at this annual event, with recent winners including Eðvarð Egilsson (2024, Smoke Sauna Sisterhood), Davíð Þór Jónsson and Benedikt Erlingsson (2019, Woman at War), Daníel Bjarnason (2018, Under the Tree), and Jóhann Jóhannsson (2016, Honourary Award). Iceland’s cultural impact on film music has been undeniable, with its composers repeatedly honoured for their evocative and innovative scores.

The HARPA Nordic Film Composers Award, presented at the Nordic Film Music Days in Berlin, celebrates outstanding composers from across the Nordic region. Iceland’s continued recognition reflects the country’s thriving film and music industries, which continue to gain international acclaim. The 2025 award ceremony will take place on 15 February 2025 at the Nordische Botschaften in Berlin.
