Geðbrigði Wins Músíktilraunir 2025

Ten acts performed at the Músíktilraunir finals on Sunday, 6 April, and when the votes were in, the band Geðbrigði was crowned the winner. The band describes their sound as gloomy punk rock, and its members are Þórhildur Helga Pálsdóttir, Ásthildur Emma Ingileifardóttir, Agnes Ósk Ægisdóttir, and Hraun Sigurgeirs.
Next up, Geðbrigði will perform at the Aldrei fór ég suður music festival in Ísafjörður over the Easter weekend – a regular invitation for Músíktilraunir winners.
All acts that made it to the finals are also invited to take part in Hitakassinn – a practical and empowering workshop series designed for young musicians looking to take the next step in the Icelandic music scene.
Organised by Reykjavík Music City, Hitt Húsið, and Iceland Music, the course offers insight into key aspects of the music industry – from marketing and PR to budgeting, tech essentials, and building a professional network.
The programme concludes with a showcase concert where participants perform for key figures from the Icelandic music industry.
Músíktilraunir were first held in 1982 and have been an invaluable launching pad for young Icelandic musicians ever since. Countless artists have taken their first steps through the competition – including Kolrassa Krókríðandi, Botnleðja, Maus, Mínus, Jakobínarína, Agent Fresco, Mammút, Of Monsters and Men, and Vök.
