Now that the mardi gras that is Iceland Airwaves has wrapped up and most of the dust has settled, it’s a good idea to look back at everything that took place. Iceland Music was involved in organising nearly 20 events through Bransaveislan and the IA Conference, and the highlights were endless.
The President of Iceland, Halla Tómasdóttir, opened the conference with a fireside chat that will not be forgotten anytime soon, and Lilja Birgisdóttir, of Fischer fame, closed the first day by guiding attendees through a hypnotic scent experience. A team of Music Supervisors hosted a workshop for Icelandic artists at INNI, the Speed-meetings were packed and wonderfully lively, Prikið hosted a warm and beautiful event exploring the role of cafés as cultural hubs, KÍTÓN addressed gender equality in Icelandic music, the Feedback project served as a baptism of fire for young and emerging music writers - and the list goes on.
The purpose of this extensive programme is to serve our music community as well as we possibly can, by offering education, networking, workshops, and of course entertainment. We could not be happier with the response these events received. We welcomed hundreds of guests, had countless conversations, and left the festival re-energised, inspired, and full of new ideas.
