Ásgeir needs little introduction in Iceland. He sang his way into the nation’s heart with his debut album Dýrð í dauðaþögn just over 13 years ago. He is now preparing to release his new album Julia, with the next single, “Sugar Clouds,” arriving next week.

Ásgeir is currently on his way to Mexico City, where he will perform three shows at the legendary venue Foro Indie Rocks! alongside Moyka and Elinborg. The concerts form part of Mexico Calling, a new collaboration between Music Norway, Faroe Music Export, and Iceland Music, supported by the Nordic Culture Fund and LiveMX.

The shows take place on 17, 19, and 22 November, marking the high point of a multifaceted long-term project aimed at connecting Nordic artists with one of the world’s most vibrant and rapidly growing music markets.

Ásgeir’s playlist is a cruise through the tundric desert. The low but blaring sun, the freshly studded tyres and the frozen haze of tarmac dust.
