Every festival lineup is built on hundreds of small decisions pulling in different directions. This session puts them on stage. A panel of festival bookers meets a series of fictional Icelandic acts – the laptop project with 2,000 listeners, the five-piece metal band and their logistical nightmare, the local hero who only sings in Icelandic – and has to make the call: yes, no, or not yet. Then we change the facts and see if they change their minds. If you’ve ever wondered what happens to your application, this is it.
Expect a light-hearted but thought-provoking conversation that offers genuine insight into how a festival is curated and the many factors that shape every application a booker comes across.
