The third and final episode of the podcast series Northern Rising was recently released.
Recorded during last year’s Iceland Airwaves week, the series follows artists through the festival and offers a unique glimpse into their colourful adventures. The series is hosted by Tim Pogo, an American media professional with decades of experience in radio, television, and digital media. Tim has been a regular at the festival since 2000, covering it for a wide range of outlets.
The series features conversations with avant-pop artist Sunna Margrét, beloved singer-songwriter Elín Hall, and bulldozerindie band Virgin Orchestra, as they guide listeners through the irresistible chaos that takes over the city during the festival. The artists talk about their formative years, creative process, and the Icelandic music scene while also leading listeners to unexpected places: cafés, record shops, museums, nursing homes, cornershops, and more.
The series is produced by Iceland Music, Record in Iceland, and The Reykjavík Grapevine.
