Feel the Beat of IP – Music and Intellectual Property at Bird

To mark World Intellectual Property Day, Iceland Music, the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office, and STEF invite you to a fun and informative event featuring live music alongside insights into Iceland's intellectual property landscape.
The event will explore how IP rights shape the world of music – from the registration of compositions and trademarks to the latest developments in technology and artificial intelligence.

The event, part of Iceland Innovation Week, takes place at Bird, Tryggvagata, on Wednesday 15 May from 16:00–18:00.

Speakers and programme:

  • Borghildur Erlingsdóttir, Director General, Icelandic Intellectual Property Office – Why should musicians care about IP rights?
  • María Rut Reynisdóttir, Managing Director, Iceland Music – The Value of Icelandic Music.
  • Ólafur Bjarki Bogason, CEO, Genki Instruments – Experiences from the patent process.
  • Sóley Stefánsdóttir, composer and musician – performs original work on the new Katla synthesizer from Genki Instruments.
  • Sindri Ástmarsson, Project Manager, Iceland Airwaves and Head of Events at Sena – Building the brand of an Icelandic music festival.
  • Soffía Kristín, Artist Manager and Co-owner, Iceland Sync Creative – BRÍET as a brand: how an artist becomes a strong brand.
  • Guðrún Björk Bjarnadóttir, Managing Director, STEF – Are we bailing a sinking ship with a teaspoon? Fighting illegal use of music by AI companies.

The event will be hosted by Eiríkur Sigurðsson, Communications Manager at the Icelandic Intellectual Property Office, with music by DJ Silja Glömmi.
Happy Hour at the bar.

The event will be held in English, and registration is through the Iceland Innovation Week website.
