Ólafur Arnalds Does Techno!
pictured: KiasmosIcelandic neo-classical prodigy Ólafur Arnalds has teamed up with Bloodgroup member Janus Rasmussen for a new project – KIASMOS. In order to shorten the waiting period on Arnald's forthcoming new solo album, Erased Tapes Records will release their first collaborative tracks ‘65’ and ‘Walled’ on March 30, 2009. As huge fans of label colleague Ryan Lee West alias Rival Consoles, Arnalds and Rasmussen share this debut split 12”/Download release ‘65/Milo’ with West, who contributes three more acidy, electro-laden tracks - ‘Milo’, ‘Func’ and ‘ARP’.

Hjaltalín Hit Europe Again
Pictured: HjaltalínIrrepressible popsters Hjaltalín are hitting the road in Europe once again next month. As well as the dates listed below they have also been confirmed for a number of festivals, including Roskilde, Haldern Pop, LatitudeOpen'er in Poland and Slottsfjell festival.

 

Steed Lord @ SXSW
Pictured: Steed LordSteed Lord have just returned from a very successful SXSW trip. After playing a showcase gig at Elysium and another at Loose Canvas, they managed to conjure up radio and press interviews - and signed a licensing deal with Ed Banger records for one of their tracks (for a compilation release from the label).

Aldrei - Easter Line-Up Confirmed
Pictured: Aldrei fór ég suður illustrationThe line-up for the 6th instalment of Ísafjörður’s "Aldrei fór ég suður" (“Never went South”) festival has finally been confirmed! The festival, which will take place in a brand new venue ten minutes from Ísafjörður’s diminutive downtown, will feature a savvy mix of well known and up-and-coming Iceland musicians (including local talent from the surrounding Westfjords area) plus some special foreign guests. Kimono: Gig + Album News
