The super duper Icelandic band amiina are stepping into the gleam of our IMX Spotlight this time, and what a treat that is! The group, who were also formerly Sigur Ros' string section, have been making beauteous sounds together since the 1990s, and have a brand new album, titled The Lighthouse Project', due on June 7th! Let's have a chat with them, shall we?

It's high time we shone the IMX Spotlight on the enigmatic Dream Central Station. Their eponymous new album, which was released at the end of 2012, has been garnering excellent reviews and intriguing press and public across the board. When Hallberg Hallbergson (Jakobinarina / Singapore Sling) and Elsa Maria Blöndal (Go-Go Darkness) decided to conjure musical magic together, Dream Central Station was, as they themselves put it, "finally born," before adding that "nothing less than perfect will be tolerated." Crumbs. We'd better ask good questions.

We were excited to see the grand unveiling of the full schedule for Mugison's festival Aldrei fór ég Suður this week, particularly because it contains the splendid Borko, who has been wowing all and sundry with his latest album 'Born To Be Free' and has an array of tour dates coming up. Death metal stars Angist have never been busier - having just signed a record deal with US label Abyss, they are currently working on their first full-length album, and are heading over to the UK to appear in a star-studded line-up at Camden's Desertfest. Sólstafir is one of Iceland's favourite metal bands, and, since forming in 1995, they have been steadily making the rest of the Nordic territories and beyond fall in love with them too. They have a European tour coming up in support of their hit album 'Svartir Sandar', so check out the dates at the foot of the interview. Their name means 'Crepuscular Rays', so just for them, we shoved aside our IMX Spotlight in favour of our own crepuscular rays, and quizzed them on what makes this rock band tick.

Happy New Year! And what better way to start than to shine the IMX Spotlight on up and coming shoegaze-noise popsters Oyama? This shimmering band, who are preparing to take on the annual By:Larm festival in Oslo next month alongside fellow Icelanders Sin Fang and Valgeir Sigurðsson, recently signed to management company Projekta and have grabbed the attention of XFM's John Kennedy and BBC Radio 1 DJ Bethan Elfyn to name but two luminaries under their spell. We pounced on them and asked them to tell us their secrets, their New Year resolutions and their predictions for Icelandic music for the year ahead.
