Iceland To Brighton

Brighton event posterOn Sunday, 3rd May, 2009, Brighton's Sidewinder will host an all day celebration of Icelandic music and art. Delicious roast dinners and BBQ will be served and local and Icelandic art and photography will be displayed and auctioned... along with a few other surprises from local businesses.

Icelandic band Blindfold will headline the event, led by front man Biggi, (recently signed to Universal) who wrote a debut album track for Deepa Mehtha’s film ‘Heaven on Earth' - and all will be in aid of an exciting new Brighton/Iceland venture, the feature-length documentary “There and Back Again” (www.thereandbackagain.tv), which is being produced by local producers Charlie Southall and Heather Millard of Dragonfly Productions UK Limited.

The documentary focuses on the impact of the economic crisis on the Icelandic people, following four Icelanders as they prepare to rebuild their lives in a time of economic turmoil, preparing to leave their beloved homes and search for new beginnings on the island and abroad. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be split between the documentary production and the Icelandic charity organisation Náttúra.
