Maximus Musicus Visits Korea!

Maximus MusicusIceland's most famous mouse, Maximus Musicus, has arrived in Korea! The acclaimed book, Maximus Musicus Visits the Orchestra and its accompanying CD, which features the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, has been published by a Korean company and promoted via their website.

The Maximus Musicus concept was developed as an introduction to the symphony orchestra, its instruments, sounds and musicians for young children. It is an illustrated book with an accompanying CD, as well as a wonderful concert programme performed already to great acclaim by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in spring 2008. The story’s author, Hallfríður Ólafsdóttir, is the principal flautist of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and the book is illustrated by Þórarinn Már Baldursson, a violist in the ISO.

The CD contains a narration of the story with all the sounds and music that go with it, the musicians warming up, tuning, rehearsing and finally playing the pieces. At the end of the CD, the works are performed in their entirety by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra conducted by their principal conductor, Rumon Gamba. You can read more about the music in the story here.
