The event, which took place on the 23rd & 24th September in Reykjavik, offered attendees a mix of inspirational keynote speeches, panels and workshops on a wide range of topics centered around the theme of the digital revolution within the creative industries (particularly music).

Highlights included a highly stimulating opening speech by IDEO Chief Creative Paul Bennett; keynotes from Ars Electronica XX Gerfried Stocker (on digital art & media culture), Guðjón Már Guðjónsson (from the Ministry Of Ideas), Serena Wilson (from Nile On PR) and Remi Harris from the Association of Independent Music. There were panels on the relationship between TV, Film & Music, the future of digital distribution, the power of the digital media and copyright and social media issues, and interactive discussions on subjects as varied as how to obtain funding, fashion, digital marketing and retail, and creating a greener future for the digital industries.

The conference was covered fairly comprehensively via the dedicated YAIC blog where you can find overviews, photos and video interviews with some of the key panelists and speakers. Anna Hildur, MD of IMX and organiser of the event, said: "We have seen a great development between years. I am very pleased that we have succeded in making YAIC a cross sector debate platform for the creative industries. I look forward to YAIC 2010 where we will address this further and look into the ballance between creative people and technology in more depth."
