Airwaves - More Tickets, Artists Added!
As the 11th Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, which will be held 14-18th October, looms ever closer, the organisers are still unleashing news and updates. In recent newsletters, the festival has announced an additional 56 local acts to the already brimming line up, bringing the total number of locals performing up to around 100. And if you think you might have seen them all before, be aware that no less than 25 of those will be making their debut Airwaves appearance this year!
Also announced is the headlining of the Kerrang! stage by Canada's Cancer Bats, whose frontman Liam Cormier has said: “We are going to lose our f***ing minds at that show! Everyone should prepare themselves for the heaviest show they’ll ever witness”. Equally alluring is the confirmation of legendary techno diva Jojo De Freq, who will be headlining the Bugged Out! event. This is the first time Iceland Airwaves has teamed up with Bugged Out, who have run one of the most successful club nights in London, Manchester, Barcelona and Milan with a previous roster of artists such as Justice, Daft Punk, Boys Noize, Brodinsky and Simian Mobile Disco. They'll be celebrating their 15th anniversary so expect this one to be big.
Other international bands confirmed are Choir of Young Believers from Denmark and German band Abby. Be sure to keep an eye on the Airwaves website for more exciting news. See you down the front, yeah?
