Nordic Woman

The new album Nordic Woman, compiled by Norway-born producer and activist Deeyah, is coming out in Scandinavia in March to coincide with International Women's Day on March 8th - and what a compilation it is!
The album features female artists of traditional Nordic forms from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The artists you can hear on this release include Ragga Gröndal & The Icelandic Folk Ensemble, Lena Willemark, Mari Boine, Annbjørg Lien, Bára Grímsdóttir, Tuva Livsdatter Syvertsen, Suden Aika, Valravn, Unni Løvlid, Kirsten Bråten Berg, Adjágas, Phønix, MeNaiset, Garmarna, Heiða Árnadóttir, SUO, Ranarim and Tone Hulbækmo.
Nordic Woman is the first release from an extended album series Deeyah is currently producing called WOMAN that celebrates the female voices of traditional music from around the world.. At the heart of this valuable project is the intention to raise awareness of the condition and place of women in society today. Nordic Woman will be released by Norwegian label Grappa.
