Icelandic cellist Hildur Gudnadottir's beautiful new album 'Leyfdu ljosinu' (Icelandic for 'Allow the light'), was recorded live at the Music Research Centre, University of York, in January 2012. (NB - It was not played in a concert environment and there was no audience.)
According to Hildur's website, "To be faithful to time and space - elements vital to the movement of sound - this album was recorded entirely live, with no post-tampering of the recordings' own sense of occasion."
A multichannel version is also available - a 2GB USB stick in a hand-made (by the artist) paper cover. You can read more about this here, and order the album here. You can also stream this and all of Hildur's releases on Gogoyoko.
In other Hildur-related news, sadly the tour she was to undertake with Japan frontman David Sylvian this Spring has been postponed after Sylvian sustained a back injury. "His management are hoping that with medical care his condition will improve significantly, and that we'll be able to reschedule the tour at a later date."
