Tickling Death Machine Gets Iceland Premiere

May 17, 2012 at 3:16pm

Yes, you heard! The brilliantly named Tickling Death Machine, a concert performance written and arranged by dance collective Shalala to the music of Reykjavik! and Lazyblood, will premiere in Iceland on June 8th.

Tickling Death Machine, we are told, is "a collaboration of musicians, dancers, performers and other good people. It is not a concert, not a dance performance and definitely not a theatre piece, but some sort of a compensation of these. But it most surely will keep an audience involved and perplexed for 90 minutes and send them out into the night with warmth in their hearts and a smile on the face."

We like the sound of that.

The performance was first premiered at KUNSTENFESTIVAL DES ARTS in Brussels in the spring of 2011 where it was shown on four occasions. Tickling Death Machine has also been invited to the KYOTO EXPERIMENT in Japan next autumn. Exciting times indeed!

The project's Icelandic premiere takes place on June 8th at the beautiful venue Iðnó (Vonarstræti 3, 101 Reykjavik). Tickets are on sale at www.midi.is.

And in the meantime, if you head to Gogoyoko, you can check out the mighty sound of Reykjavik!  right away.
