Jazz bassist/composer Tómas R. Einarsson's excellent album 'Strengur' has been included in the Best CD Of The Year list on top Latin music site Descarga.com.
'Strengur', which was premiered live at the Reykjavik Arts Festival last May, is an album of original tunes written by Einarsson, and the instruments used include bass, percussion and, as Einarsson explains, 'twelve different tracks of water (recorded where my forefathers lived). As it is a very personal album I thought originally that I would not send it abroad, but now I have changed my opinion.' We're very glad he did! It's a beautiful work and you can check out a glimpse of it here:
Descarga editor Bruce Polin describes the album as 'a series of finely crafted gems with deep shadows, crevices, nuance and color that elevates Latin jazz to a new level. Strengur is a reflective work, and requires patience that will not go unrewarded. I keep finding it back on my stereo system. Very highly recommended.'
