Varsárbandalagið-The Warsaw Pact

The Icelandic Volcano-Balkan band Varsjárbandalagið (The Warsaw Pact) has launched it´s very first album, Russian Bride. The songlist reflects the two-year-old band´s acclaimed concerts, is colorful, humorous and lively. It is a coctail of klezmer, gypsy and balkan-popmusic along with the band´s own often humorous and whimsical compositions and arrangements of older, Icelandic popmusic.

Varsjárbandalagið´s instrumental combo has an eastern flavour, featuring the violin, clarinet, trumpet and accordion, supported by a massive rythm-section. The title song features singer Hera Björk Þórhallsdóttir. Cover design by animation artist Einar Baldvin.
