Jussanam Dejah

THE VOICE OF THE BOSSA NOVA IN ICELAND

Borned in Rio de Janeiro,Jussanam da Silva,grew up with the carioca Samba and Bossa Nova. Besides her singing, Jussanam became an actress in various novelas (soap operas) in Brazilian TV. In the play "Adoraveis Romeu e Julieta" she also became the first black Juliet ever in Brazilian theater. She also worked as dubber of movies and animations contracted by the Studios Herbert Richers for several years before to move to Europe. In June 2011 Jussanam became Icelandic Citizen.

Jussanam now lives in Reykavik in Iceland where she sucessfully collaborates with bassist Tomas Einarsson, one of Islands foremost Jazz musicians(2008/2009). She sang in Gothemburg in january 2009 as special guest of the shows "Brasilicum" by Harald Erici and 2010 at Kalmar Festival. She has been warming the Icelandic audience with your voice and the best of the Brazilian music.
Her's first CD "Ela é Carioca" came out in 22nd october,in Salurinn-Kopavogur, this show was suported by Kopavogur City. On her CD: Haukur Grondal(Sax), Asgeir Asgeirsson(Guitar),Thordur Hognasson(Contra Bass) and Erik Qvick (Drumms).
