gímaldin
gímaldin is an independent musician with ties to the underground icelandic-folk community. He is modest and writes his artist name with a small-g, his modesty stops at that point.
gímaldin´s first official release was the "gímaldin 1997" cassette. The next solo effort was the quasi-pseudo-official cd "Trendaðir mússikkfangar" which was released in 2002.
In 2010 gímaldin released "Sungið undir radar", his second official solo album, and 3d and a half quasi-official. The album is double and the entire a-side can be heard on the super-official homapage,

the b-side is something altogether different and its mysteries can only be unlocked through direct purchase. Although the limited supply is now utterly depleted, rumors state that two units can still be found in the little bookstore in Selfoss.
Though mostly working solo, though rarely and with titanic gaps in between, gímaldin has entered into the various collaborations:
5ta herdeildin, an icelandic punk-folk-slash-activist group, which was operational from 2001 to 2006, releasing three albums.

The midi project, as it were, has been 12 years in the making. Originally composed using a single midi sound module, but through lack of equipment and know-how, the final mix wasn´t totally presentable - in 2008 gímaldin rerigged all the old machinery to stream all the channels to a new mix. Using an old Lel multifx processor, the sounds was fattened and later blending a couple of live instruments in for coloring. Þorvaldur H. Gröndal then played extra drums in a couple of songs.
gímaldin is currently working on a feature album with his new band, gímaldin og félagar (gímaldin and comrades) - which should appear before the end of time. And as usual, there are some and then some side-projects, a country album with icelandic poetry, an instrumental album, and a film score.
