Petur Ben - Wine For My Weakness - 12 Tonar

Despite being active on the Icelandic scene for years, Icelandic troubadour and indie rock supreme Pétur Ben first became known for arranging music for other bands and artists, such as Slowblow, Telepathetics and his friend and musical sparring partner Mugison.

Having studied composition at the Reykjavik Academy of Music, Pétur is an accomplished arranger as well as songwriter, and had a hand in the writing and arranging of Mugison’s acclaimed 2004 album, “Mugimama: is this Monkeymusic?”

Since then he has also written music for films (such as Ragnar Bragason’s "Children" and "Parents", and "Woyzeck" a Vesturport production with original music by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis) and has also been involved in several theatre productions.

By far his biggest success to date though is his debut solo album, the startling “Wine For My Weakness”. Released on Icelandic label 12 Tónar, the album features 11 original tracks that move through gentle acoustic introspection through to catchy rock & roll.

Nominated in no less than 3 categories at the Icelandic Music Awards 2006 – Rock Album of the Year, Male Singer of the Year, and Most Promising Newcomer, winning Best Rock Album –Ben is about to promote the new project with a European spring tour. Catch him while you can…
