Henriette Amiel runs a consultancy providing legal services to the music industry. Having qualified as a solicitor in 2000, Henriette founded Effective Legal Services to provide independent companies and up and coming artists in the music industry with legal services at a more competitive rate than those offered by the established music law firms. Clients now include independent companies such as Beggars Banquet Group, Cutting Edge Music Supervision, Air-Edel Associates and Instant Karma amongst others.
Henriette is also Co-Founder of London Calling, the annual music industry event at Earls Court in London and is Co-Owner of independent record label Silver Planet Recordings known for discovering talent such as James Holden, Timo Maas and Luke Dzierzek.

Having trained under both James Wyllie and Statham Gill Davies, Henriette Amiel set up Effective in 2000 which has carved a niche in the market by providing legal services for those companies that the traditional law firm set up and all the high costs that go with it simply isn’t an option. In today’s rapidly changing industry Amiel recognizes that clients need all manner of legal advice from standard recording rights contract negotiation through to brokering of all the revenue rights that come from the multiple revenue streams an artist can produce including merchandising, management, production, song writing, film, TV and game synching, digital, publishing, brands and live performance rights. All these services are tailored to the individual client’s needs and provided at competitive prices with fees being either charged on a per project basis or a monthly retainer as an alternative to the hourly rate based fee so the client has absolute clarity on costs and know the parameters they are working to. “I understand that in today’s challenging market it simply may not be cost effective for a company to pay for a traditional law firm and all the expense that goes with it” says Amiel.
Indeed Amiel first cut her teeth in the music industry as a partner in independent dance label Silver Planet and its management and publishing arms where she focused on the legal affairs of all sides of the table – the needs of indie labels, publisher and artist management and the needs of their artists. ”One of my first large deals was a global licence to Sony where I quickly realized that the interests of the artist and not only the indie label needed to be considered.”
