Eiríkur Tómasson - STEF

Eiríkur TómassonEiríkur Tómasson has been the Managing Director of the Icelandic Performing Society, STEF, from 1987, after having been a legal advisor to the society for some time. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Nordic Mechanical Society, NCB, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of IHM, a collecting society, taking among other things care of collecting and distributing blank tape levies in Iceland.

Eiríkur graduated from the University of Iceland with a law degree in 1975 and studied law further at the University of Lund, Sweden. He worked at the Minstry of Justice in Iceland 1976 - 1979 and practiced law as an Attorney of law in Reykjavík 1980 - 1994. In 1995 he was appointed Professor in law at the University of Iceland.

Eiríkur has written books and various articles, among other things on Copyright law. Furthermore, he has served in many committees, appointed by the Government of Iceland, among others the permanent expert Committee of Copyright, appointed by the Minister of Culture.
